Gypsy's Belly Dance

Beginning Level 1

This class is held on Saturdays, begins at 9:30am and ends at 10:30am.

This is where it all starts.  Level 1 provides the basic moves to start your dancing off right.  You will build from the foundation up, for a smooth transition into the more advance classes, where you may begin adding stylization.

In the Level 1 class, you learn the basic moves, starting on class session #1 and gradually adding more and building up from there with each consecutive class.  You will learn proper body posture, simple layering techniques, simple combinations and depending on the class, some simple choreography.  We will cover how to dance with a silk veil and simply rhythms, using finger cymbals (zills or zagat).

No prior dance experience is required for this class.  However, prior experience may make learning this dance form a little easier.

Students will have "student-level" performance opportunities in a fun and supportive family-friendly location.

Class Rates:  $75 per 6-week session ($12.50 per class when pre-paid before or on the the first day of class.)  I offer discounts for paying for your session, in full, at the beginning of each 6-week session.

Beginning students may "drop in" to this class at any time during the session.  The session is usually 6 weeks long, with 1 class on each consecutive Saturday.  The "drop-in" rate is $18.  Student tuition is due at the beginning of each class.

Intermediate/Advanced Level 2 and Troupe Afet

This class follows the Level 1 class on Saturdays, begins at 10:45am and ends at 11:45am.

This class is the next step, after successfully completing Level 1, at instructor's discretion.

Students will learn more advanced layering techniques, silk veil work, various choreography and will be provided with performance opportunities at local haflas, events, festivals and private parties.

Students are not required to perform but are highly encouraged.

Gypsy's Performance Troupe "Afet" is made up of students from the Level 2 class and perform regularly.  Troupe costuming is a requirement for becomming a member of Afet, as well as attending class regularly and extra rehearsals, as necessary.

Class Rates:  $75 per 6-week session ($12.50 per class when pre-paid before ro on the first day of class.)  I offer discounts for paying for your session, in full, at the beginning of each 6-week session.  Drop-in rates are $18 with instructor's permission.  This class works on various choreography, so as not to hold up the class, drop-ins are discouraged for this class.  Student tuition is due at the beginning of each class.

Advanced Troupe, Spanish Dolls

The Spanish Dolls is Gypsy's Advanced Performance Troupe, by invitation only. 

We perform a "Spanish-Gypsy-Fusion" style of dance with Flamenco influences.  Rehearsals are weekly and require knowledge of some basic Flamenco dance moves. 

Specific troupe costuming is required at the expense of each student. 

The Spanish Dolls perform regularly at local events, festivals and private parties.

Class Rates:  $75 per 6-week session.  This is a rehearsal group, not class instruction.  Prior classes in Level 1 and 2 are required to be considered for this troupe.  Student tuition is due at the beginning of each class.
